courses for adults, or anyone, interesting in learning about special
topics such as computers, dancing, etc. Instructors are selected by the
Springfield School District and the classes are given at either the High
School or Middle School.
Lottery Calendar Sales
October-December
The lottery calendar event is a
major fundraiser for the SPRINGFIELD LIONS CLUB. Calendars, which are
good for one year starting in January, are offered, which contain a
number. The number is connected to the Pennsylvania State Lottery and if
it is selected that day during the state lottery drawing wins the amount
printed on the calendar for that date. Multiple winnings are possible.
Always a popular Christmas present or a present for
any occasion.
White Cane Days October
What is the
meaning of the White Cane?
The familiar red-tipped white cane is recognized universally as a symbol
of those living without light. The Lions Clubs originated the white
cane for the sightless safety, and it continues as an emblem of our
efforts in saving the sight of our citizens, as well as being a major
mobility aid for those who will never see again. The emblem and the use
of the white cane became standardized as a longer-than – usual white
stick with a six inch tip, used as a guide rather than a support.
The White Cane fund raising event
is a major campaign for the Lions worldwide and provides funds for our
blind and sight-related programs.
